Supplemental Competition Categories per Arkansas Region Solo Events
Novice & Novice Ladies Categories
The purpose of these two special categories is to serve as a membership
recruitment tool by providing for introductory competition between drivers
with less experience than the majority of our competitors.
* A driver is eligible to compete in the Novice or Novice Ladies category
until he or she has driven in 15 Arkansas Region points events, unless
they
have previously competed in a championship class/category or have previously
won the Rookie of the Year Award.
* Vehicles must be classifiable in either Stock, Stock Ladies, Street
Prepared, Street Prepared Ladies, Prepared, Prepared Ladies, Modified,
Modified Ladies, SM, SM Ladies, SM2, SM2 Ladies or Jr. Cart categories.
Any
class beginning with "ST" will not qualify for the novice class
such as STS,
STS2, STX, STU, and all corresponding ladies classes. Drivers may enter
different vehicles, in different categories or classes, in different events
and continue to count toward Rookie of the year points. Drivers may enter
different vehicles, in different categories or classes, in different events
and continue to count toward Rookie of the year points.
* Each car will be classified per 2008 SCCA Solo rules and indexed against
all Novice or Novice Ladies entries. Novice and Novice Ladies drivers
may
not compete on race tires. Tires must be DOT approved, have a tread wear
rating of at least 140, and not be an excluded tire in the 2008 SCCA Solo
rules. Tires may not be shaved, re-grooved, or worn beyond the manufacturers
wear indicator.
* These categories are not included in the Region Championships, however
points earned by a driver who becomes a member of the Arkansas Region
of
SCCA before July 1, 2008 accumulate toward a "Rookie of the Year"
award and
a "Ladies Rookie of the Year" award. Points earned in the current
year
before becoming a member will be counted.
* Rookie of the year or Ladies Rookie of the year is determined by counting
a driver's best five events, with ties being resolved by number of events
entered in the current year. If a tie still exists, the driver who won
last
will be the Rookie of the Year or Ladies Rookie of the Year.
* If a Novice or Novice Lady Driver decides to move from the Novice or
Novice Ladies category to a championship category, novice points do NOT
carry over, and that driver may not, at a later date, change back to Novice
or Novice Ladies category.
* Novice Ladies may choose to enter the Novice category by request.
Bumping
Any category or class with less than two competitors will be bumped per
2008
SCCA Solo rule book with the following exceptions:
1. A single modified entry will bump backwards to prepared.
2. Novice, Novice Ladies and Junior Cart categories are independent and
will
not be bumped regardless of the number of entries.
3. All bumps will be indexed.
4. Bumping will not be included in year end points.
Drivers
* A driver may not compete in more than one car per event
* A driver may not compete in more than one class/category per event.
* Failure to work during the event (from the time the first car is off
until
the last car finishes) will result in disqualification. Work assignments
are
defined as course workers, safety stewards, timing, grid, starter, and
others as assigned by the event chair. Autocross chair may determine if
substantial work prior to event start, i.e., course set-up, tech, or
registration, can be used as work assignments
Events
* Events will consist of a maximum of six runs per driver; however, number
of runs may be reduced if dictated by weather, attendance, or other
conditions. The decision to reduce number of runs will be made by the
event
chair and Autocross chair.
* Event registration shall be closed one hour before scheduled Start time.
Only the event chair may grant exceptions.
* Entrants shall declare their category and class upon registration. If
the
entrant does not know, and the registrar is unable to determine the
appropriate category and class, the decision will be made by the tech
inspector, or another person designated by the Autocross chair. An entrant's
category and class for that event shall not be changed unless, prior to
the
start, the registrar or tech inspector determines an error has been made.
* A "Points" event terminated (not all drivers completing at
least two
runs), due to conditions beyond the control of the club, will be
rescheduled. A "No Points" event so terminated may be rescheduled.
* Event Chair and Safety Steward will determine if instructional runs"
will
be permitted.
Instructional Runs
Instructional runs are not "automatic." The Event chair shall
determine, at
the close of scheduled competition, if sufficient time is available and
an
adequate number of volunteer course workers are available.
* Event chair shall set a specific time limit.
* Event chair shall set the price per run.
* Non-competitors shall be accompanied by a registered competitor.
* Use of non-entered vehicles is discouraged, but permitted if it passes
tech inspection, including appropriate tire pressures. Obtaining the
services of the tech inspector is the responsibility of the driver.
Trophies
* Regular trophies will be awarded at each "Points" event. Special
trophies
may be awarded at selected events.
Points
Points are awarded as follows:
First place - 10 points
Second place - 9 points
Third place - 8 points
Fourth place - 7 points
Fifth place - 6 points
Sixth place - 5 points
Seventh place - 4 points
Eighth place - 3 points
Ninth place - 2 points
Tenth place - 1 point
* Class Points: Will be awarded for each class having an entry. (Example:
A
single CS, bumped to BS, automatically receives 10 CS class points.)
* Category Points: Will be awarded for each category having an entry,
regardless of whether the entrant was bumped from one category to another
at
that event. (Example: A single ASP, bumped to Prepared, receives SP category
points according to his ranking against the other SP entrants. Ranking
is
based on the Racers Theoretical Performance index.)
* Category points from multiple classes within the category can be
accumulated toward the year end category championship.
* Points are awarded to each competitor, regardless of membership or
eligibility for a Region Championship.
* All points earned by Novice or Novice Lady Category drivers count toward
"Rookie of the Year" and "Ladies Rookie of the Year",
with no minimum number
of events.
Region Championship
* There will be an opportunity for Region Champion in each class and
category adopted by the Arkansas Region except for Novice and Novice Ladies.
* To qualify for a Regional Championship a driver must be a member of

in
the current year before becoming a member will be counted.
* Only points at Arkansas Region sponsored Points events will be counted
